Al Jazira Football Club
A master plan for Al Jazira Football Club’s vision for a sustainable complex that both supports the Club, as well as creates long-term economic and cultural benefits for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Rafael Viñoly Architects’ master plan for a 136-acre sport, leisure and entertainment destination in Zayed City includes both community facilities as well as world-class athletics venues and training centers. In addition, the plan aligns with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. When completed, the site will include a multi-purpose arena, training and instructional facilities for football players, a sports entertainment complex, tennis academy, and a community park.
The proposed multi-purpose arena can host up to 25,000 fans. Built for optimal flexibility, it can be configured to host 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, or 25,000 spectators, and features an operable roof, lending its use for a variety of events, including FIFA World Cup matches, concerts, conventions, rugby, and exhibition games.
The Al Jazira Football Club Training facilities include an elite complex featuring training facilities for leading professional football players, which hosts two full-sized fields, 40 player residences, and offices. The Youth Academy features six full-sized fields and support spaces.
At the north end of the site, asports-entertainment complex—named theAl Jazira Sport & Leisure Club, a Tennis Academy, and Football School are proposed.The Club’s amenities include training and fitness areas, two pools, an indoor sports hall, a gravity center, commercial spaces, and a conference hall.
The Tennis Academy features 16 world-class tennis courts, eight of which include spectator seating and shading structures. The Football School features changing rooms, a pro shop, full-size indoor field, two full-size outdoor fields, and three 5-a-side fields.
Located between the Al Jazira Training Facilities and the Al Jazira Sport & Leisure Club is a 15-acre community park featuring a children’s play area, a full-size field hockey pitch, a large lawn area, three 5-a-side football pitches, two sand volleyball courts, and cycling and running paths.
