Sussex Sports Center Foundation Indoor Facility
A 250-foot-wide by 500-foot-long by 80-foot-high framed fabric structure will provide space for indoor sports practice and exercise during the winter and inclement weather, and community events year round.
The Sussex Sports Center Foundation (SSCF) Indoor Facility will provide a space for indoor practice and exercise during the winter and inclement weather. The SSCF Indoor Facility has been designed, initially and primarily, to accommodate youth soccer, lacrosse, and indoor field hockey. Secondary uses of the SSCF Indoor Facility will include basketball, volleyball, pickleball, perimeter walking, and local assembly events.
The SSCF Indoor Facility will include five indoor fields. Two artificial turf fields measuring 45 yards by 70 yards for youth soccer/lacrosse and three sport courts measuring 20 yards by 40 yards for indoor field hockey. The fields will be housed in a 250-foot-wide by 500-foot-long by 80-foot-high framed fabric structure that is temperature controlled and artificially illuminated.
The framed fabric structure will be complemented by a modest 4,500 sf support building that includes a large reception, multi-purpose room, male and female toilets, storage, and mechanical rooms.
Parking for approximately 75 to 100 cars, along with a new access road connecting to the existing Sandhill Fields parking lot, will be constructed to service the SSCF Indoor Facility. Additional site improvements including utility extensions, stormwater management system upgrades, and ancillary site improvements will also be completed.
The SSCF Indoor Facility will be made available for rental to community athletic groups and for local events, such as graduations, church services, and fund raisers with less than 1,000 guests.
