As the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina nears completion of construction, the project has been the focus of several recent events in Columbia, SC.
This past March, over ninety members of the AIA Greater Columbia chapter toured the project, which is under construction and scheduled to open later this year. Led by Joyce Ignacio, project manager of Viñoly, the tour encompassed the 251,891 gross square foot building and provided members with an up-close view of the building’s innovative programs as well as its design, material selections and sustainable features and initiatives.
Ms. Ignacio also presented the Darla Moore School of Business at the annual meeting of the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers (“SCSPE”). Ms. Ignacio spoke on the project’s mission, site conditions, and program objectives. She also articulated the design concept, distribution of functions, and concluded with details of the project’s sustainability features and associated engineering strategies.
