Integrating Teaching within a Modern Healthcare and Research Environment Talk
On October 10th, 2017, Rafael Viñoly Architects’ Partner Chan-li Lin and Gail Morrison, Senior Vice Dean for Education and Director of Academic Programs, Perelman School of Medicine University of Pennsylvania, will deliver a lecture at the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) 2017 North Central Regional Conference, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lin and Morrison will discuss the planning and design of the Jordan Medical Education Center at the Perelman School of Medicine and explore how this innovative center brings together teaching, practice and research in the field of medicine.
Completed in 2015, the Rafael Viñoly Architects-designed Jordan Medical Education Center is embedded into a healthcare complex consisting of a comprehensive outpatient treatment center, a biomedical translational research facility, a faculty office building, and a new hospital building. The Jordan Center was founded on the idea that medical education and medical practice should be intrinsically linked, which resulted in the nation’s first medical education space fully integrated into an active clinical and research facility. The Jordan Center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology that promotes team-based learning and connects students and their research with the wider medical world.
